It
has been said that in simplicity lies great beauty, an
axiom stunningly validated by the Folded Steel Golden
Oriole Katana and Wakizashi. The story told by the stunning
Tsuba is of a mantis stealthily stalking the cricket,
unaware that he is himself being stalked by the Golden
Oriole. The deeply lacquered blue of the Saya is repeated
in the Japanese cotton Tsuka-ito, and the Oriole appears
again on the Kashira. Unmistakably Hanwei quality, the
over length (14") grip of the katana is secured to
the long tang by double bamboo pegs. This longer handle
gives a superb balance to the sword, allowing it to move
very freely and very quickly.
This functional folded steel blade with authentic temper
line. Genuine rayskin handle with blue cord wrap. Cast
metal guard has antique copper finish with brass and gold
highlights depicting mantis stalking cricket while Oriole
oversees. Wood scabbard with blue lacquer finish.
